Weekly Rundown: Meet me in St. Louis

Not every MLB club does the Jekyll-Hyde thing at home and away, but that's the personality of the St. Louis Cardinals. They're a 43-24 outfit at Busch Stadium but a 30-43 horror show on the road; if they miss the playoffs in 2010 (and things don't look so hot right now), they can point to this disparity as the reason why.

Ah, but we'll save the obit for another day. St. Louis has seven home games in play for Week 24 and two of their aces are getting two starts this week, so it's the right time to be hanging by the Gateway Arch.

NL Double-Dips - Week 24

1. Adam Wainwright(notes) (Chi, SD): At home, where he does his best work (11-2, 1.52, 0.93).
2. Jaime Garcia(notes) (Chi, SD): Ground balls (55.9 percent) don't leave the park (0.51 HR/9).
3. Clayton Kershaw(notes) (@SF, Col): Unlucky in second half (just two wins despite 3.04 ERA, 69 K).
4. Daniel Hudson(notes) (@Cin, @Pit): He's been excellent in all eight NL starts.
5. Brett Myers(notes) (Mil, Cin): The most underrated NL arm; team is over .500 in second half.
6. R.A. Dickey(notes) (Pit, Atl): No promises come with a knuckler.
7. Travis Wood(notes) (Ari, @Hou): At least he's not up against contenders.
8. Derek Lowe(notes) (Was, @NY): I haven't trusted him for a year and a half.
9. Joe Blanton(notes) (@Fla, Was): Sneaky-useful in second half (3.67, 55 K).
10. Bronson Arroyo(notes) (Ari, @Hou): No second-half run this year despite WHIP dip.
11. Chris Narveson(notes) (@Hou, @SF): A September sleeper: 23 whiffs in last three starts.
12. Jeff Francis(notes) (SD, @LA) Useful in four of his last five efforts.
13. James McDonald(notes) (@NY, Ari): Forty whiffs in 41 Pittsburgh innings.
14. Dillon Gee(notes) (Pit, Atl): Fables of the Reconstruction.
15. Cory Luebke(notes) (@Col, @Stl): The Colorado turn makes him too risky.
16. Barry Zito(notes) (LA, Mil): Second-half pumpkin (4.82 ERA, one win).
17. Jon Garland(notes) (@Col, @Stl): One thin-air start, and then he meets Wainwright.
18. Yunesky Maya(notes) (@Atl, @Phi): Hard to use him against two playoff contenders.
19. Barry Enright(notes) (@Cin, @Pit): It might get ugly in Cincinnati.
20. Carlos Silva(notes) (@Stl, @Fla): It's been a mess over last four turns (11.12 ERA, 2.47 WHIP)
21. Zach Duke(notes) (@NY, Ari): Not even for a Klondike bar.

AL Double-Dips - Week 24

1. CC Sabathia(notes) (@TB, @Bal): Pick up that guitar and talk to me.
2. Francisco Liriano(notes) (@Chi, Oak): Second-half surger (2.22, 1.17, 7-0 in 10 starts).
3. David Price(notes) (NY, LA): Mild step back in second half but nothing major (3.69, 9 K/9)
4. Jon Lester(notes) (@Sea, Tor): Cookie up front sets the week up.
5. John Danks(notes) (Min, Det): Three wins in 10 career starts against Detroit (3.52, 1.27)
6. Bobby Cramer(notes) (@KC, @MIN): Rookie posted a 1.94 ERA in seven Triple-A starts.
7. Doug Fister(notes) (Bos, Tex): Would be ranked higher if not up against Lester, Lee.
8. Marc Rzepczynski(notes) (@Bal, @Bos). Scrabble rack gone awry gets road trips in the AL East.
9. Luke Hochevar(notes) (Oak, Cle): Occasional teases but nothing sustained.
10. Trevor Bell(notes) (@Cle, @T: No way you want to mess with the Rays on the weekend.
